A DANGEROUS PRACTICE

On most Wellington beaches and in many reserves notices are posted warning persons against the criminally stupid practice of throwing bottles and glass where, they are.liable, almost certain, to become a "danger to children and others, but a section o£ the public disregards suoh. warnings where they are exhibited, or the dictates of common-sense when no notice is in viow, and others suffer. A child suffered a very severe injury to one foot while playing on the Oriental Bay foreshore yesterday afternoon, and minor accidents of a like nature aro far too common. The breaking of glass and the throwing about of bottles is striotly forbidden by a city by-law, but the dictatea of plain senso should be sufficient to pnt an end to such dangerous practices. Notice board warnings no doubt have a good effect, and at present not all beaches and reserves carry such warnings.
