The Prime Minister is preparing to undertake another big harden in the next session of Parliament by taking charge" of the Tariff Bill. As previously stated, Sir William Herries,' the present' Minister of Customs, deparls on a visit to Britain, shortly, and will, resign his portfolios before h« leaves 3s'ew Zealand. The Feilding Star states that the Government has purchased, for soldier settlement, two properties ironi Mr. E. Short. One of these properties is' the Alm>tfa]o farm, on the Oroua River, behind Parprangi homestead, jo'f 187 acre^> This property comprises rich river deposit land, and ii is provided with all ihe necessary buildings' and improvements. It will ': make ideal dairy farms.l The other property is a.. A72^aere farm on the Colyton-road, good!: sheep country, highly improved. It is understood that in both cases-Mr. Short offered the properties "to the Government at a price substantially below the prosent market value. , . ■
