' The members of the Racing Commission visited Ashhurst yesterday afternoon and Palmerston North last night, going\ to-day to Fcildmg, Foxton, Horoiviienua, and Otaki. \Vliile in Palpierston: North the Commission' was waited upon by representatives of the 'Manawatu Racing Club, Manawatu Trotting Club, and: Manawatu Hunt Club, in"connection with the granting of additional totalisator permits. At a meeting held lat Glen^OrouaVlast night a committee Was appointed to "canvass' the district for subscriptions towards the guarantee; for the rural mnil delivery. The Kairanga County Counoil met today. . It was. reported, by the engineer, that the whole of the £10,000,; being Government grants, loans, etc.; foi: roads, arid, bridges would be expended before the end of the/financial year (31st March). It was decided to proceed, with tho extension of the footpath in ■ College-street, towards which the'council is finding. £200. the ratepayers in the.vicinity of £160, the Manawatu Racing Club'£l2s, and the Hospital Board £100. : -

At the Magistrate's Court Neil Paulsen, expressman, was fined.£2 and costs £2 18s, for failing to indicate the 'direction lie intended to take when driving an express.
