While the shortage of plantation labour at Samoa was relieved to some ex- ■ tent' by the- recent shioinent of. 500 additional Chinese labourers, more Workers are still required. The New Zealand Government, however, is not at present engaging, additional coolies. Many of the Chinese Avho were on the island when it was taken over from the Germans accepted re-indenture for a period of two yoars after the armistice. These, ie-indentures will expire this year, and tho men are to bo returned to China. Arrangements will bo made for tho flngAgemont of - fresh labour to take their places.
