Owing to an alleged irregularity, thoro is a possibility of the recent poll on the borough movement being .upset.
Master Ben Heap, who met with a serioift accident at Otaki on Friday, and who is now receiving treatment at Palmorston, is reported to bo doing well.
Owing to tho rain which fell on Saturday,, all tennis and bowling matches were declared off. Tho rain, however, was badly needed, and will have a most beneficial effect on pastures.
What appeared to bo a deliberate attempt to destroy tho postal letter-box near the Otaki Town Board Office took ■place between Saturday everting and last night. The ]etter-carrieiv-,on opening the box this morning, found' several letters partially burned, a lighted match having been dropped in. Tlje wood was also slightly burned, and it is a wonder the whole was not destroyed.
