WAIROA, 15th January. The second day's races of the Wairoa County Eacing^ Club were held in a heavy north-east gale. The gusty wind during the afternoon made the time of the races run slow. There was a good attendance. The going was* again very hard. The totalisator handled £17,120. Kesults:— Hack Handicap Scurry, of 100 soys ; fivo furlongs.—Eoya.l Moments, 9.5 (H. Gray), 1; Demoline, 8.6, 2; Gate Pah, 7.9, '6. Also started : Ma-takianga (coupled with. Royal Moments), Heatherlight, Dcmum, Mayfaim, .7.7. Won by two lengths ; three-quarters' of a length between second and third. Time, lmin 4sec. Apprentices' Handicap, of 100 soys; seven furlongs.—Monte, 8.11 (A. Dixon/, 1; Merekara, 7.7, 2; Anata, 9.0, 3. Also started: lady Flash 7.7, May Bloom 7.7. Won easily by three lengths, half a leagth bet.veen second and third. Time, lmin 34 l-ssec. Can-oil Memorial Handicap, of 150 soya ; one mile. —Orawu, 6.9 (Faunin), 1; Goldshine, 9.2, 2; Eheipa, 7.7, 3. Aiso started: Athens 11. 7.13, Orateur 6.7. Won by two lengths, a, length between second and third. Time, lmiu 42 4-Ssec. .„■ . Waikaremoana Handicap, of 100 soys ; six furlonga.—Theie, 8.10'( E. Flying Handicap, of 125 soys; sis furlongs.—Orawia, 6.12 (C. Faunin),' 1*; Sweet C0rn,.8.11, 2; Black Lace, 9.3, 3. Also started: Demagogue 9.2, Manila 7.13 (coupled with Lady .Wolawa 6.7), Lord Muskerry 7.13. Ths winner came fast at ths rear in the finish, and won by half a length, a length between second and third. Time, lmin 16sec. Electric Handicap, of ICO soys; five furlongs.—Gate Pah, 7.8 (A. Dison), 1; Kikini, 9.12; 2; Eau do Cologne, 8.0, 3. Also started: Theic 8.11, Demoliue 7.8. Won by a, length, half a length between second and third. "Time, lmin Ssec. Paeroa Hack Handicap, of 100 soys; S€.veu furloags.—Mokattam, 8.9 (R. Hunt), 1; Orateur, 8.8, 2; May Bloom, 7.2, 3. Also started: Pavilion 8.11, Kaimoe 8.4. Juan 8.10. Lady Flash 9.0, Lake Robin 7.8, Merry Bells 7.2. This was a good race, the favourite winning by a length, the third Horse three-quar-ters of a length away. Time, lmin 31 sec. President's Welter Handicap, of 125 soys ;' seven furlongs.—Patetonga, 8.2 (E. Mansoti), 1; Cleft, 9.9, 2; Goldshine, 9.12. 3. AJ3O btarted: Multive 9.13, Eheipa 8.10, Empire 7.11.
