IMPERIAL CHALLENGE SHIELD

SUCCESS OF NEW ZEALAND TEAMS.

The National Rifle Association results of the 1920 Imperial Challenge Shield Competitions, which have been held aiv nually throughout the Empire since 19.10, show the entries to have been 820 teams in the Senior Division for boys over 15 years, and 569 teams in the Junior Division, representing a total of over 14,000 boys. The challenge shields, medals, and over £620 in prize money are presented by Lieut.-Colonel Raymond W. Ffennell, South Africa.

Most of the leading prizes ■ in the Senior Competition are again won by Australian Cadets, headed by the Royal Australian Naval Brigade '(O); Cairns, winning the Challenge Shield and first prize, with an average score of 932 out of a possible 100. In the Junior Competition the Challenge Shield and first prize were won by the Royal Naval Barracks Boys' Brigade, Devonport ("A" team), with an average score of 91.8 out of a possible 100. Altogether in the Senior Division, Australia wins 40 prizes, chiefly leading ones, Great Britain 12, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa five each. In the Junior Division, Great Britain wins 25, Australia 12, South Africa 10, New • Zealand 4, and Canada 1.

The total entries were:—South Africa 450 teams, United' Kingdom 366, Australia 294, Canada 103, New Zealand 98, ■India, Ceylon, and various' 78.

Second place in the Senior Competition ii won by "A" Company, Naval Cadets, Birkenhead, Australia, with an average score of 92.2; and second place in the Junior Competition by No. 12 Company of the same Ci'dets, with an average, of 91-. S. ■ The third places,'in both competitions are won by New Zealand teams.
