Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., considered police and maintenance cases at the Magistrate's Court to-day. Charles Ratu and William Currie were each fined 20s for second offences of drunkenness.

Frederick Lyness, an old man with many previous convictions, was con victed as a rogue and vagabond', and sent to gaol for three months. Jack Hutchings, whose arrears in respect of a maintenance order amounted to £9 15a, sentenced to a month's imprisonment, the warrant to be 1 suspended for one month. Rupert Joseph M'Kee, whose imyments wore £52 6s 6d in arrear, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, the warrant to be held in abeyance as long as he pays 15s per week. George Cameron was sentenced to two months' imprisonment on an information alleging that his payments were £19 6s in arrears. Tho warrant will be suspended as long as he pays 46a per,week. (Proceeding.) . MOUNT COOK. Six cases of drunkenness were dealt with by Mr. W. H. Coy, J.P., at a sitting of the Mount Cook Police Court to-day. Five persons who were out. on bail did not reappear, and each was fined KSs, the alternative being 48 hours' imprisonment. The other offender was convicted and discharged.
