The members of the Scottish. Society and Pipe Band of Wellington held their Halloween function ,laat .Saturday in their rooms, Cuba-street. The children, to the number of 66, met in the afternoon and had a'jolly time. The hall was packed in the evening, The Chief, Hon. T. W. Hislop, opened with a few remarks, and Mrs. Savage, Piper Joe Simpson, Juvenile Dancers, and Pipe Band contributed items. The haggis was served in old-time custom by a " braw lad " in kilts, preceded by two pipers, and was enthusiastically received. It gladdened the hearts of many Scots to again taste their favourite dish- Supper served, the merry party ended with " Auld Lang Syne." Lovers of pipe music will be pleased to hear that the Pipe Band has secured the services of Mr. R. Thompson (late pipe-major, Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders) ■as pipe-major, and they hope to give the public plenty of Scotch music during the summer. Messrs. B. Johnston and Co. will sell furniture on Tuesday at 10.30 a.m., at No. 227 a, Wellinirton-terracei and at 1.30 p.m. at No. 36, Plunket-st.; on Wednesdy, at 10.30 a.m., in their rooms. On Tuesday, at 11 a.m., they will sell machinery at No. 66, ICent-torraco. Messrs. Williams and Co., Ltd., will, sell pianos and furniture at the Auction Arcade, Couttonay-ploce, to-morrow, at 2 pjn.
