Mr. J. H. Finney, secretary of the Nelson Jockey Club, is at present on a; visit to the Wairarapa district, and 1 will bo present at the Masterton Meeting. Printemps, who was allowed to drop out o£ his engagements on the opsning day at Masterton, was worked on the tan at Trentham or. Saturday. With the approach of the fine weather that circuit will be a. good deal used by trainers. Several horses engaged in the Wellington Handicap are also in the Mitchekon Cup, to be run at Ellerslie next month. Their respective weights are as follow :

The racing Lady Violet did at Avondale, and the travelling, have done her no harm. She sprinted" two furlongs at Trentham on Saturday morning, and did it well.

Con B;ed has a ride in each of the fiat ©vents at the Whangarei Meeting, which opens at Avondale on Wednesday. His mounts are Arran, Tamaroa, Roderick, Bezant, and Smoke Concert. A. Astinome, one of the smartest, sprinters at headquarters, was half-a-dozen lengths ahead of Fortune Teller at- the end of half a mile at Trentham on Saturday.

Rexarius, v;ho ran third ii the Waverley Handicap at Randwick on Saturday, is a four-year-old gelding by -Kintj Rufus—Bronze." The winner, Ecarte. is a four-year-old by imported Piquet. {Cyllene —Frusquinetta), from Queen May, and ran second to Pershore in the Metropolitan. Solfanello iras brought across to'Trentham by J. Hughes on, Thursday last. He worked on the tan on Saturday, pulling up all right. He is not too sound, but it is'hoped he will last long enough to win a race before the tracks- get eolid.

Sefton, winner of the Debutanta Stakes, worth 1100 soys to the owner of the winner, at Caulfieid on Saturday last, acted as runner-up in the Maribyrnong Trial at Flemington a, week previously. He is by Land of Song from Rose Marie, both imported, and ' v.-ss bred by Messrs. Casey and Nia11.... He , runs in the joint lUvnership of Messrs. J. M. Niall and N. Falkiner. Land of Son.?, a good winner in England and Australia, was by" Llangibby (sire of LlaniShen). Rose Marie is by Orby from a mare by Enthusiast. Johnny Walker has been accepted for, in the Masterton. Cup, but his ownertrainer is at present undecided whether he will race there or not. In a try-nut with Silk Rein on Saturday morning the latter, finished in front of the New Zealand Cup candidate. Silk Rein (California—Silken Rein) is in the Lawn Handicap at Masterton. The Canonbury Stakes, run at Randwick on Saturday, is for two-year-olds that have not beeu placed in any race at time of starting. Mr. E. J. Watt got second with Llanilly, & brown filly by Wolawa, and the first progeny of imported Llanisiien, who won in Mr. Watt's colours at Ellerslie and Trentham. The winner of the Canonbury Stakes, Poppyiand, is „by Popinjay— Nancy Stair. Science, "the other piacegetter, is by Syco or Seremond, from Culture, by Boniform—Oulroy (dam of Culprit).

Of the half-dozen Trentham-trained horsas engaged in the Trial Plate at Masterton Happy Days, in J. Ayrcs's etable, may prove to be the best. He sprinted well over half a mile on Saturday morning.
