At a meeting of the Irish Vigilance Society a proposal was made on behalf of the Iris.h-American section that Prince Albert (the King's second son) should become King of Ireland, with the title of "Patrick I. It was claimed that the granting of Irish sovereignty under Prince Albert would mean that Ireland would remain an integral part of the Empire, and the right arm of Britain. The Chairman stated that De Valera supported the proposal. The discussion was postponed, so as to obtain the viewa of certain leaders in Ireland.
