For the third day of the A. J.C. Spring Meeting the weather was fine, and there was a big attendance. The fields were small and poor. Poitrel's defeat in the Craven Plate was a surprise, though Greenstead commanded considerable support. The latter equalled Cetigne's record established in the same race in 1918, when Cetigne, Wolaroi, Estland, and Desert Gold finished in that order. This was Poitrcl's first defeat in a weight-for-age- (event. Jack Findlay, who ran Greenstead to a head.in the Epsom, seemed sore in, the Suburban Handicap. Vespucci was favourably placed throughout in the Grantham Stakes, but lacked the necessary finishing dash. In the Gimcrack Stakes Aeon wae. in the bunch till the stand, when she moved up into third position. ..
