The Chicago Tribune publishes details of a mutiny in Petrograd on 28th September. It states that 1400 sailors commandeered 18 naval guns from the Kronstadt. Barricades were built in the streets, and sniping was carried on from the roofs. Munition workers joined the rebels. Troops, including 4500 Chinese mercenaries, were called out, and quelled the riot. Four hundred sailors had been killed or wounded during two days of fighting. The Government ordered 54 of the men to be shot.
