AUSTRALIAN WOOL.
POORER SORTS NEGLECTED.
(Ckiibd press association.—copiright.) SYDNEY, 6th October. Another small catalogue of wool was offered. Good classes of greasy, for which competition was keener, sold to sijd per lb. Poorer sorts were neglected. There was no demand for scoured wools, which were withdrawn. BRISBANE, 6th October. The Brisbane wool sales have been postponed for a week. (Received October 7, 9 a.nf.) SYDNEY, This Day. Most of the wool so far offered in Sydney lis from the western and north-western districts, and is of indifferent quality, disclosing the effects of ihe late drought. Bidding indicated a tendency among many buyers to hold back, and watch the market. The fact of large stocks of previous year's clips being unsold in England apparently ope rated to keep the bidding down, except for the best kinds. Australian buyers operated freely, English, American, and French were less active; Japanese held off. The second day's sale of poor classes showed about 10 per cent, decline on the opening sale rates.
