LODGE MEETINGS
At the weekly meeting of the Sunbeam Temple,. 1.0. G.T., the Chief Templar, Sis. M. Blair presided. Two additional candidates were initiated. A hearty welcome was given to Bro Ainsley, Supt. oi a. Wa-nganui Temple and lii^ P.C.T. Bro. Aineley convoyed hearty greetings to the Sunbeam Temple, and in a. brief response exhorted every on© to be true to their pledges, obedient to their superintendent's instructions, and never falter or Weary of doing even greater work for their cause. Bro. Trevethiok, Supi, in returning thanks mentioned that the Sunbeam Temple at present was th© largest in the Dominion, haring returned at the last quarter oref 100 members, and for fifteen consecutive nights had initiated new candidatee. Present indications pointed to a continuance of the advancement in membership. The superintendent said the very large membership was due to the hearty co-operation of the officers and member* with thoir supermtendfciit, thus making the work a. labour of lots and an education to all The .following contributed items:—Sistors Sullivan, T. and M. Btl», Roberts, Larwood, Conlon, 'Millar, Rather, and Cumings, and Bro. Rather. On Tuesday, after the meeting of S>{. Joseph's Branch of the Men's SacreS Heart Society, the members wero given an enjoyable social evening in St. Joseph's Hall. Those who contributed items were-.—Messrs. W Gamble, E. Higgius and L. Jansen (songs), Messrs. L. Jansen and E. Dwyer (piano and violin}, Mr. J. Hyland (recitation). Mr. D .Kelly (humorous items). At tho fortnightly meeting of the Pacifio Lodge, No. 8, "U.A.0.D., there was a good attendance of members and visitors. A.p Bro. Earley was in the ■choir. District President Bro. Pope paid an official visit. Farther amounts were freceived from oufoide lodges in. response 'to an appeal for a distressed brother, •and the result of a "social" held by the lodge augmented ithe fund considerably. 'Bro Patten reported on the .proceedings ■of the Medical Institute, -ami enlightened the members on several important •mattery After the close of bho lodge the Social Committtee met, a.nd. matto final arrangements for the coming euchro 'tournament and danoe.
