SEIZURES OF LAND
PEASANT ACTIVITY IN SICILY.

ROME, sth October. There have been, further occupations of land iii Sicily. Thousands of peasants, headed by a monk, marched in procession, singing, and occupied feudal estates. A monk ied five hundred peasants to occupy an estate at Sant' Angelo. As they were returning, a hundred landowners who were hiding in a hedge fired, killing one man. Ex-soldiers occupied three estates in Syracuse, where Bai-on Cameratas offered his land free. There were numerous occupations elsewhere. A dozen lawyers headed two thousand armed peasants on horseback, and occupied three large estates.
