TO-DAY'S PROCEEDINGS
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL
The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m.
The following local Bills, received from the House, were read a first time and referred to various I/ocal Bills Committees: OhrietchuTch. Drainage Amendment, Auckland Harbour Board Empowering, Wangamii Borough Council Vesting and Empowering, Bay of Islands Harbour, Gisbome Harbour Board Amendment, Wanganui River Truet Amendment, Thames Harbour Loan Empowering, and the Dunedin City Corporation Empowering. The Te Aroha Crown Leases Bill, received from the House, was also read a first time.
Sir Francis Bell moved the second reading of the Military Service Bill which, he assured members, did not affect the measure under which defaulters were deprived of civil rights. The Bill was read a second time. (Proceeding.)
