HIGH COMMISSIONER'S .CABLED REPORT. '
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 7th instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London :— ' ■'
" Meat.—Demand for English is limited, market quiets Average closing prices: Beef Is sd, mutton Is 9d, lamb 2s. No change in,price for imported meat. " Butter.—Supplies are decreasing and prices are firmer. Average : English £18 9s 6d,-Irish £19 10s. • ■•
" Cheese.—Poor Remand. English unchanged at £8 12s* to.£9 2s; Canadian;; spot £7 12s to £7 14s for white and £7 14s to £7-183 for coloured. Quotations, c.i.f., £7 9s to £7 14s. Stock New Zealand on 6th August, 17,831, against 9274 same time last year. " Hemp.—Manila market quiet arid steady. J grade, July-September shipment, sold £63 16s; other quotations unaltered. Manila .receipts Ist January to Ist August 699,000 against 637,000 same period last year. New Zealand market continues dull with no change in prices.";
