A telegram from Belfast states that at an inquest on the Redemptorißt priest who was killed by a military volley while walking iryj corridor of Clonard Monastery on 23rd July, a verdict was returned that the firing was entirely unnecessary to suppress the riots, and was not provoked by anyone within the monastery. The jury added that the soldiers who fired should have been called to give evidence at the inquest. The Rector gave evidence that when he heard bullets spattering the monastery walls he called this brethren together. Father Morgan did not respond, and was found dead in an upper corridor. The Rector, while approaching with holy oils to annoint tho body, had a miraculous escape. The firing was repeated, and a bullet passed through the face of the body, which was subsequently dragged from tiie windows. Tho brethren were terrified at the continued firing, and asked the Rector to give them the last rites, to prepare them for death.
