(B.MTEI PRESS ASSOCIAIIgS.—COi'TRIttUT.)
(AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 12th August. The Paris correspondent of the Evening News says that a great white patch, apparently a snow plain, seen near the tropical zone of Mars, is exciting French astronomers., Some speculate on the old theory of Martian signals. Others question the possibility of a snowfall during the Martian midsummer. M. Pleimmarion suggests the existency of a lofty desert plateau, similar to that of Tibet. He believes the Martians have long abandoned the attempt to communicate with the earth, owing to no responsa having been made.
