The English county cricket championship still remains an open issue. Middlesex defeated Surrey by an innings and 33 runs. Surrey is now fourth, with a percentage of 69.41 wins to matches played. Kent leads with a f ercentage ol 77 wins, Yorkshire is second with 76.66, and Lancashire third with 72 per cent. The Full Court has delivered its reserved judgment in the appeal on behalf of the trustees of the Norton estate, against the decision denying their claim against the Union Bank for £17,420 for cheques wrongfully drawn by their secretary, Harold M'Clintoch (since sentenced to imprisonment). The Court by a majority verdict found in favour of the trustees, and entered a verdict awarding them £17,378. A message from New London, Connecticut, reports the death of James O'Neill, the American actor, at the age of 71. He was a native of Kilkenny. A* message from Pekin states that General Ching-yun-peng has • been reappointed Acting-Premier of China. The personnel of the Cabinet has not yet teen announced
