A CLASH IN FOOTBALL
"It does seem a bit hard," writes "Engbyite" to the Post, "that a follower of the eport is debarred from seeing both games (the Rugby final and the EnglandjSTew Zealand Lea-gue match), in conseqiienee- of the two games being played next Saturday, the clash being all the more regrettable in view of the fact that it wag known weeks ago that the Englishmen were appearing in Wellington on that day." The correspondent points out that it is reasonable, to suppose-that followers of Rugby would appreciate the League match as well as desire to see the' Rugby final. He expresses, the opinion that the Rugby Union officials had no desira to break faith with'its supporters by fixing the final on this particular Saturday, but "it seems inevitable that some thousands of football enthusiasts are to be the sufferers as a result." The Eugby Union, in reply, states that the final happened to be fixed for this date, being the only available one until October, which would be far too late for such a match. In any cass, the union has no desire to work in with the controllers of the League game.
