AIMS OF BOLSHEVISM

A spirited reply woe made by Mr. D. Jones (Kaiapoi) last evening, in the House of Representatives, to statements by Mr. W. JS. Parry that the farmer wa-s holding the * "community-created" ' values which, either by taxation or in .other ways, should be returned to the community. Some of Mr. Jones's remarks aro reported in another column. If the members of Parliament who claimed to represent Labour, ho said, would do missionary work in getting v orking men to increase production, all would be well. They did not do it, howevor, because their aim was to destroy capitalists. Mr. Fraser: "The robbers." Mr. Jone?: "Tlie hon. gentleman admits that is their aim." He added that there were no greater capitaJints than the extreme Labour leaders. All they., wanted was opportunity. Their aim was not to benefit Labour, but to destroy at all costs what they called the "capitalistic system," and build something else upon it. They were fighting for everything that was going to hit capital. They quoted, Rusaia —Russia ruled by a Dictator—"and there," exclaimed Mr. Jones, pointing to the Labour benches, ' 'you have got a Lenin only waiting for the opportunity." But in Russia the workers had to work under a dictatorship—according to the hours, and wages, and conditions stipulated. The state of affairs in Russia would not be tolerated by the people of this country, yet these men would impose it on the community. In Russia men were driven to do work at the point of the bayonet The system adopted there had practically abolished day labour, and the contract system bad talcen its place. Ml 1. Holland : ''Who 13 your authority?" (Interruptions.) Mr. Jones continued that day labour had practically ceased, and he would like this fact to be brought home to the workers of this country. The contract system was what the Labour Party • wanted to bring into this country. The conditions of life in this country were bttter than anywhere else in the world. Destroy capital and," included in the dispossessed, were the men who owned homes; bring in Bolshevism and it would destroy life insurance funds, superannuation funds, and everything else of a like nature. Did the .people realise this?
