Judging by the comment in the Auckland prefcs it is evident that Amy Evans (the Welsh soprano) and Fraser Gange (the Scotch basEO cantante) easily sustained the reputation which the Australian press gave them. The Auckland Herald said : "Miss Amy Evans' is all that was said of Vier in the preliminary notices announcing her visit to these shores. . She possesses a magnificent mezzo-soprano voice of immense range and sweetness." Of Fraser Gange the Herald said : v "A highly cultivated voice, combined with a personality of unique, unconventionality, made him 'at home with his audience at-once."
