SMALL INCOMES.
. There seems some difference of opinion in the House of Representatives as to what constitutes a small income. TTip point cropped up when Mr. D. Jones (Kaiapoi) was speaking, and arguing that the number of rich people in New Zealand was small. Most of the people of New Zealand had comparatively small incomes. Mr. E. Kellett (Dunedin North) expressed curiosity'as to what was a small income. • ■ • ■ ■ Mr. W. A. Veitch (Wanganui): £5000 a year." Mr.. Jones :. "The member for Wanganui knows that those who receive £5000 a year are few." Mr. P. Fraser (Wellington Central) pressed the point. "But what," he asked, "is a small income?" Mr. Jones : "It is probably what you would earn." The question was carried no further.
