HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE,
The Department of Agrioultwre has received the following cablegram, dated 24th instant, from tho High Commissioner for Now Zealand, London !■—
Meat,—-Demand for English meat is limited, except for/best quality and lamb. Average prices are: Beef Is sd, mutton 1b ?id, lamb Is lid. Argentina chilled beef is in active demand at full pricel— hinds Is, fores Bd, No change in price for imported meat except New Zealand uncut ewes, which have been reduced to Bd.
Butter.—Average price of English but: ter is £17 2s Bdj price of Irish has advanced owing to short supplies—£l7 ss, £17 10s.
Cheese.^-Market quiet and prices unchanged for English—£B 12s, £9 2s, Canadian market ia easier o\ving to large arrivals—spot, £7 16s, £8; c.i.f., £7 11s to £7 14s.
Hemp.—Manila market quiet but prices well maintained. J grade August-October shipment has been sold early this week for £66, but present quotation is £65. New Zealand market quiet, but prices have slightly advanced. Sellers hiprh points, spot, £55; fair, £53. M»y-J-uly shipment, £54 and £61 respectively, Honey.^Miarket quiet. Nominal qua= tations are 90s and 105s, according to quality.
