INTER-ISLAND TEAM
SELECTIONS AND NOMINATIONS.
The following team has been chosen to repi'esent the North Island in the inter-Island Rugby football match to be played at Wellington on 26th June: —
Full-back: J. O'Brien (Auckland). Three-quarters : V. Wilson (Auckland), B. Algar (Wellington), and N. A. Barker (Wellington).
Five-eights: C. Badeley (Auckland), J. Tilyard (Wellington). Half : E. Roberts (Wellington). Wing-forward: Lucas (Auckland). Forwards.—A. Carroll (Mana/watu) and N. Cairn (Taranaki), hookers; Moffitt (Wellington), lock; West (Taranaki), Jacobs (Horowhenua), ' Bellis (Wanganui), and Fletcher (Auckland). Emergencies.—Backs, Mapu (Hawkes Bay); forwards, J. Shearer (Wellington), J. Donald (Wairarapa); half-back, C. Brown (Taranaki).
The selectors were : Messrs. A. J. Griffiths (Wellington), G. W. Nicholson (Auckland), and D. Malone (Taranaki). Et: Roberts is not available for the match, but. will be able to go to Australia if selected for the tour.
Players nominated from Wellington were as follow :—Three-quarters, Byrne (Athletic), Barker ('Varsity), Algar (Poneke); five-eighths, Corner (Petone), J. Tilyard (Poneke), E. Roberts (Athletic) ; forwards, Moffltt (Oriental), Price (Petone), J. Shearer (Selwyn), S. Shearer (Selwyn), A. Wilson. (Athletic), and Harkness (Oriental). Auckland's nominations were: —Fullback, J. O'Brien; three-quarters, V. Wilson and V. Badeley; five-eighth, W. Saxon; forwards, Lucas, Singe, C. Fletcher, and Thomas.
Advice comes from Greymouth that Steele, who scored two brilliant tries during the last North-South Island match, is in great fprm again this season. In a recent interclub match he scored seven tries, six of ■which, were obtained in succession during the second spell.
