WESTRALIA, FROM MELBOURNE.

The Huddart-Parker steamer Westralia arrived in the stream at Wellington at 7.35 o'clock last evening from Melbourne direct, and berthed at the Jervois-quay Wharf this morning. She brought the following saloon passengers:—Misses Gore, Adelscolde, King, Guslavson, Simmons, Selway, Moore, Gatescall, Mesdames Mullett, Goodman, Ross and 3 children, Rogers, Robson, Weekes and 3 children, Wilson, Bridges, De la Mer, Carey and 4 children. King, Zimon, Messrs. Mullett, Draper, Robson. De Chateau, McPhile, Evans, King, Zimon Budling, Weekes, and Ekers. . Leaving Melbourne on Saturday last theWestralia .encountered rough weather during the first two days at sea. After that smooth seas were experienced, although heavy rain made matters rather unpleasant for the passengers. The Westralia will leave Wellington at S p.m. to-morrow for Melbourne, via ports. ULIMAROA LEFT SYDNEY. A cable message received by Huddart-Parker, Ltd., to-day announced the departure from Sydney at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon of the intercolonial steamer Ulimaroa for Wellington direct. The Ulimaroa has on board 211 passengers and 1233 tons of cargo. She Is due here about midday on Monday, and will sail on the return trip to Sydney on Thursday. PALOONA LEAVES FOR MELBOURNE. The Union Company's steamer Paloona. left Wellington at 12.26 p.m. to-day for Melbourne direct. She took the following passengers-— Saloon: Misses Hayne, Barr, Wallace, Mesdames Nicholson, Hind, Frew and 2 children. Dusky and 2 children, Parr, Messrs Cotton, Hossack, Hall, Stevens, Purdie, Hughes, Frew, Tristram, Manning, Sturt, and Dusky. . THE MOERAKI. The departure of the Union Company's intercolonial steamer Moeraki for Sydney and Hobart with passengers has been further postponed until 5 o'clock this evening. The Moeraki arrived at Wellington this morning from Lyttelton in place of the ferry steamer Wahir.e. WILLIAM E. BURNHAM ARRIVES. , The four-masted American schooner William E. Burnham, to the agency of the Vacuum Oil Company, arrived in the stream at Wellington shortly after 2.80 p.m.. to-day from San Francisco, and came to anchor. She has on board case oil and lumber. The William E. Burnham, which left San Francisco, on 4th March, is in charge of Captain Worth. She is expected to berth at the "Clyde-quay Wharf to-morrow. PERSONAL. Mr. J. W. J. Preston, for many years manager of the Union Company at Gisborne, who is leaving for the head office of the company, is to be succeeded by Mr. W. J. Beachamp, local manager of the New Zealand Shipping Company. An amalgamation of the two businesses is being effected, and in Gisborne the administration -will be. carried on from the present offices of the Union Company.

THE GABETTA.

- The New Zealand and African Company received word to-day that the American steamer Gabetta left Newport News on the 7th June for Auckland, Wellington, and Australian ports.

The Nikau. is due at Wellington to-morrow morning from Nelson. She will sail on the return trip at 2 p.m., and next week will take up her usual running, leaving for Nelson at 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. The Commonwealth and Dominion liner Port Victor, Homeward hound from Wellington, left Colon on the 9th June for Newport News and London. The) port of Westport returns for the month of May show the total output of coal for the month to be 42.825 tons 3cwt, while ths total amount exported was 40.548 tons lOcwt. During the month 43 steamers, representing 26,265 tons, entered the port, and 42 steamers, representing 24,898 tons departed. The Shaw, Saviil, and Albion Company advise to-day that the; liner Waiwera will leaTo Wellington on 17th June for Lyttelton to load for Home. She will return to Wellington about 27th June, and will sail for London via Panama three days later. The U.S. and A. line steamer Chepadoe will leave Wellington at noon to-morrow for Bris. bane, Sydney, and Melbourne. , The Waihora is expected to leave Wellington late to-night for Sydney, where she is to undergo overhaul. The Komuta,. now discharging coal from Westport, is to sail on the return trip to Westport on Monday, rating passengers. The Mokoia, ■ due at Wellington on Sunday from Auckland direct, will leave at 5 p.m. onMonday for Lyttelton and Dunedin. The Flora is due at Wellington to-morrow from Timaru.
