THEFT OF A CASH-BOX

ROTORUA, This Day. About £76 in cash, and £40 in cheques were stolen from the office of Johnson and Cooper, auctioneers, yesterday afternoon. A cleric went out for a few minutes, leaving tlje safe open, and when he returned he found that the cash-box had been stolen.
A donation of £2 2s has been made by Mr. H. E. Leighton to the recreation fund of, the Lower Hutt Volunteer Fire Brigade. Three new members have been elected to the brigade. Messrs. E. Johnston and Co. advertise a sale of iron at 1 o'clock to-morrow on the sfrounr!, Main-road, "Upper Hutt, next to Provincial Hotel, and on Monday they jvill sell furniture at 6, Boulcott-terraoe.
