HELPING THE MOTHERS
A WELLINGTON NECESSITY.
The necessity for providing some place in thg city where mothers who are obliged to go out to work can leave their children in the day-time is emphasised by numerous social workers, who state that such a place would prove "a perfect Godsend" to many a Wellington mother who is "up against it" in the battle of life. A strong effort is now being made to supply this much-felt want ; and with this end in view a jumble sale* will be held in the Kent-terrace Presbyterian Church on Saturday afternoon, 19th June. The articles to be sold will consist of new and also good, clean second-hand clothing, pictures, chinaware, etc. Promised gifts should be sent before Friday next to Mrs. J. Myers, of AVellingtonterrace, and to Mrs. J.; P. Firth, of Wellington College, and cards for calls to be made to Miss Rothenberg, care of the Pioneer Club. Donations of funds from citizens are also invited.
