NORTH v. SOUTH ISLAND MATCH,

The Management Committee of the New Zealand 'Rugby Union met last evening. Mr. G.W. Slade (chairman) presided, and there were also present : Messrs. T. H. Jones, J. T. M. Piki. A. C. Kitto, S. S. Dean, and H. Paton. The chief matter dealt with was the North v. South Island match. Mr. Jones-mov/fed that a second North v. South match be played at Christchurch on 23rd June, Prince of Wales's Birthday, and that the civic authorities of Christchurch be asked to observe a half-holiday on that day. The additional expenses of a match at Christchurch would be only £75, and the game would be of value in affording a better chance of a selection for the team to tour Australia. ■ ; After some discussion, in which the interests of players themselves were weighed against the proposal, the committee decided that it was not advisable to play a second match at Christchurch, and the motion was lost. On the motion of Mr. Dean, it was decided to reconsider the question of entrance charge at the Wellington InterIsland match at the next meeting' of committee. Messrs. A. J. Griffiths and A. C. Kitto were appointed managers of the North Island team, and Messrs. H. Paton and J. N. Milhrd of the South Island representatives. It was decided that St. Patrick's College and Scots' College should be asked to provide a curtain-raiser for the InterIsland match. School grants were allocated as follow :—Auckland. £10; Wellington, £10; Canterbury, £10; Otago, £10; Wairarapa, £15; Manawatu, £15; Wanganui, £15; Poverty Bay, £15; Hawkes Bay, £20; Taranaki, £20; Bush District, £10"; Marlborough, £15; Nelson, ; £10; West Coast, £15; Buller, £15; South Canterbury, £15; South Auckland, £20,- Southland, £15; Bay of Plenty, £15; Whangarei, £10; Tasman, £10. Reinstatement of the following players was granted :—W. C. Healey (Horowhenua), A. J. Marshall (Auckland), and R. J. Tonkin (Auckland). In connection with the New Zealand Mounted Division. Challenge Cup, presented for "competition among the secondary schools of the Dominion, Messrs. Slade, Kitto, and Jones were appointed a sub-committee to draw up details of the competition. The itinerary of the North Island tour of the South Island country team was j fixed provisionally a 6 follows :—Against Wellington, at Wellington, 31sfc July; Wairarapa, at Masterton, 4th August; Napier, 7th August; Manawatu, at Palmerston North, 11th August: Wanganui, at Taihape, 14th August; South Auckland, at Hamilton, 18th August; Rotorua, 21st August; Goldfields and Thames, at Thames, 25th August; Auckland, 28th August. 'CADET MATCH. The^ members of No. 20 Company Senior; Cadets, Blenheim, have issued a challenge to play a Rugby match with any company of Wellington cadets, except teams from schools or colleges, No. 42 Company (Kilbirnie) have been selected to represent Wellington, and the match may be played as a "curtainraiser" to the Marlborough-Wellington representative fixture, which is to take place shortly. During their stay in Wellington, the Blenheim cadets will be the guests, of the Wellington boys, with whom they will be billeted.
