DESTRUCTION OF MEAT AT SEA,

HAMILTON, This Day.
At a meeting of the Farmers' Union, Major Whyte stated that he had been informed large quantities of frozen mutton, beef, a,nd rabbits -had been shipped out to sea from a certain freezing works south of Dunedin and thrown overboard. He had closely questioned the persons who made the assertions, warning them of the gravity of their"' statements, but they had persisted that they were correct. Major "Whyte added that if this was true, it was a scandalous and shocking thing that so much good food should be wilfully destroyed. He suggested that the branch, should get into touch with some of the branches south of Dunedin ari^ endeavour to secure definite information, and this course was adopted.
