INQUIRY TO BE HELD
MISHAP DUE TO CURRENT.
MELBOURNE, 15th April.
The Marine Board will hold an inquiry concerning the grounding oi^the Westralia.
; One of the vessel's officers states that he considers the mishap was due to the heavy rainfall and the current running through Bank Strait, rendering it impossible to fix the ship's* position accurately. Had they touched one of the two rocks which they must have passed within a few feet, there would have been little of the Westralia, and few of the .crew or passengers left to tell the tale under the conditions which prevailed. Luck and the expert knowledge of Captain Bates got them out of the difficulty. (Received April 16, 11.30 a.m.) •.' MELBOURNE, This Day, The Westralia has been dry-docked-, and is awaiting survey. v
