Mr. T. Seddon, M.X for Westland, is due back from his electorate next week.

Mr. Charles E. Alsop has been appointed a trustee of the Taita Cemetery, in the place of Mr. John AVakeham, who has resigned.

Sir James Wilson has been re-elected chairman of the Palmerston North Hospital Board for a further period of two years. ■ '■■

An interesting visitor to Taranaki ia Mr. L. yon Tempsky, son of Major yon Tempsky, who was killed at Te Ngutu o te Manu in 1868 (writes' The' Post's Hawer% correspondent).- Major yon Tempsky owns a large cattle ranch at Honolulu.

Mr. G. Galloway, a farmer residing at Pahautanui for 60 years passed away unexpectedly at his residence on 2nd April. He was the fifth son of the late David Galloway, who was one of the old pioneer settlers who arrived at Petone in the ship Bengal Merchant, 1840, and who was a member of the old Provincial Council for many years, and' was also a Maori interpreter during the Maori War. The deceased, who was well known and- highly respected throughout the district leave's a widow and gi-own-up family of six, and six grandchildren.
