RULING IRELAND
THE LABOUR PROPOSAL
FULL DOMINION SELF-GO-
VERNMENT.
(UNITED PRDSS ASSOCIATION.—COPTBIQHT.) (AUSTRALIAN - NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.j
(Received April 1, 2.30 p.m.)
LONDON, 30th March.
In the House of Commons, Mr. W. Adamson (Labour), dealing with Mr. Bonar Law's question,as to whether the Labour Party was prepared to give Ireland a republic, pointed out that granting Home Hole to the Dominions had not resulted in the establishment of any independent republics. ' On the contrary, the colonies to which it had been granted had been earnest friends and supporters of the Mother Country. Why, then, should the grant of Dominion Home Rule to Ireland be dangerous? Personally, ho suggested either the grant of full self-government to Ireland, with provision for the protection ' of minorities, and questions of defence and foreign relations being reserved for the Imperial Government, or that an assembly representing the whole Irish people elected by proportional representation should draft a new 'Constitution with a similar provision and reservation.
