PROCLAMATION OF INDEPENDENCE

PARIS, 29th March. Emir Feisul, the recently proclaimed King of Syria, stated in an interview that in view of the constant aspiration, of. the people towards independence, action, could no longer bo postponed. The proclamation of independence, requesting the withdrawal of 'the French troops, was not intended as an ulti. matum, but merely as an expression of Syria's wishes. The Emir intends to establish a constitutional, Government, and hopes to" receive the aid and advice of France.
