STAINED GLASS ART.. ON EXHIBITION^ IN WELLINGTON. The growing demand for finer and more expensive products of this fascinating art is ystrongly evidenced in the beautifully-executed work just comjsleted for the east window of St. Mary's Church, Hawera. Nothing so elaborate has befor* been attempted in the Dominion, and the master hand is recognised in the glorious colourings embodied in this beautiful piece of work. Really a series of three windows, all Joined together with the larger one in Che centre, all three speaking of peace. The middle. one illustrates our Lord's Ascension, and leaving his blessing for the 7 world : Peace I leave with you, My Peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth give I unto you. The window on the left speaks of the angels' visit to the shepherds, and' the heavenjy host singing : Glory to God in the highest, and. on 1 earth, Peace, goodwill among men. Whilst the window on the. light depicts the troubled scene from the Lake of Galilee, and our Lord calming the. elements. "Peace be. still." The faces are exceptionally life-like, and bear a very noble expresssion. ; The work, which is of great credit t6 (the artist, was carried out at the Christchurch branch of Messrs. Smith and Smith, Ltd., and will be on view at their local showrooms, Lower Gubastreet, until Wednesday evening. The public are invited to call and inspect this memorial work, and no lover of art should miss viewing this very fine piece of work.—Advt.
