STAFF PICNICS
■'Members'.of the staff of Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd., held their annual picnics, at Day's Bay in glorious weather, and the outing proved a great success. Sports, swimming, and tennis were indulged in, and the following are the results of the'sports events:—Ladies' 75 yards—Miss Hawthorne 1, Miss Laurenson 2. Men's 100 yards Handicap—T. Wilson 1, C. Oaulton 2. Storemen's 100 yards —R. M'Leod 1, Rouse 2. Sack Raoe—•C. Caulton 1, G. Noble 2. Married Ladies' Race—Mrs. Cameron 1, Mrs. Bell 2. Men's 220 yards—G. Noble 1, R. M'Leod 2. Ladies' 100 yards Handicap—Miss Conway 1, Miss Nash 2. Three-legged Race— Miss Laurenson and T. Caulton 1, Miss Hawthorne and M. Wilson 2. Visitors' Race (Men)—K. M'Leod, 1; W. Wilson 2. Visitors' Race (Ladies) —Miss B. Foster 1, Mrs. Cameron 2. Officials' Race—R. Niohol 1, H. C. Wilton 2. Wheelbarrow Race—Miss Howie and S. Mansfield 1, Mis 3 Hawthorne and W. Dalrymple 2. Married Men's Race —J. Maxwell 1, R. Nichol and H. Wilton (dead heat), 2. Children's Race—J. M'Leod 1, Jean Nichol 2, J. Martin 3. ' Elopement Race—Miss Bell and J. Maxwell 1, Miss Graham arid S. Mansfield 2. Relay Race—T. Caulton's team 1, R. M'Leod's team 2. Men's One Mile—R. M'Leod I, F. D. Burnett 2. The annual picnio of the employees of Hannah's, Ltd., was held at M-aidstone Park, Upper Hutt, in glorious weather on Saturday, and proved a great success, Mr. W. Denby, the factory manager, with some of the staff, working in. conjunction with the employees' committee. Mr. Cruicksha.nks acted in the capacity of secretary. There were over 200 people present. The following are the results of the sports events:—Men's sack 1 Taoe: Longhurst 1, Lattimer 2. Ladies' 'race: Miss Toff 1, Miss. Higgins 2, Miss Collins 3. Tug-of-war (challenge shield): Bottom Stock Department team. Old-timers' race: Mills 1, .Kyte 2, Farrell 3. Ladies' race (special): Miss Toff 1, Miss Malm 2, Miss Edlin 3. Men's three-legged race: Donnis and Bailey 1, Denby and Lattimer 2. Apprentices' race: Longhurst 1, Pratt 2, Howitt 3. Ladies' three-legged race: Misses Toft' and Collins 1, Misses Hebbit and Hodge 2. Ladies' nomination Tace: Miss M'Kinley 1, Miss Howitt 2, Miss Hill 3. -Skipping Tace: -E. Payne 1, Carter 2. 100 yds handicap:' Ryan 1, M'Kinley 2, Howitt 3. Committeemen's race (prize donated by Hannah's, Ltd.): Cruickshanks 1, Upham 2, Kyte 3. SeveTal races for the children were run under the direction of Miss Bates and Mr. Kyte.
On account of the prospect of unfavourable weather, the- Base Records and War Expenses Department picnic, which was to have been held to-morrow, has been postponed till next Friday.
