(Received February 9, 12.15 p.m.) JOHANNESBURG, Bth February A ballot of all the trade unionists concerned in the mining industry resulted in a large majority in favour of a declaration of a suspense strike as from last night, in order to secure a^ consolidated increase in wages and a forty-hour week for surfacemen and a forty-hour week for underground workers. The resolution intimated that the workers are prepared to negotiate with the Chamber of Mines, but the negotiations must be concluded within a week.
