LYALL BAY TOURNAMENT
The Lyall Bay Anniversary Tournament was advanced a tether stage on Saturday afternoon. Ideal weather conditions prevailed, and the various rinks were in first-class order, thanks to the good work put in during the week by Mr, A. Cook, the greenkeeper. Laws (Victoria) and Hemmingway (Victoria) ■proved the winners of Sections B and 0 respectively, with five wins. In Section A, S. Potter (Wellington) skipped in the absence of Ma-rkman, and defeated J. Kershaw (Hataitai) in the last game, which allows Taplin (Johnsonville), Boe (Victoria), and Edwards (Karori) to remain in the tournament. Thib Lyall Bay ladies provided afternoon tea for the players and visitors, which was highly appreciated by a large number of bowling enthusiasts. The result of Saturday's, play is as follows I:—. Fourth round—Section A : Noad 20, Crawford 11; Kershaw 23, Brackenridaie 12; Smith 14, Mowtell 12;'. Roe 16, Markman 13. Section B : Taplin 17, Gilbert 16; Laws 23, Wyatt 17; M'Girr 14, Burgess, 9; Edwards 16, Sparrow 14. Section 0:' North 19, Dillon 13; Haitimingwav 21, Johnson 12; Fairway 21, Chittey"9. Fifth round—Section A : Crawford 16, Mowtell 9; Roe 20, Brackenridge 16; Markman 15, Kershaw, 9; Smith 17, Noad 10. " Section B : Wyatt 22, Gilbert 10; Laws 16, Spavrovr 13; Taplin 20, M'Girr 13; Edwards 16; Burgess IS. Section C : Chittey 24, Dillon 15; Hemmingway 22, North 14; Johnson 17, Fairway 13. The tournament will be continued at 1 p.m. next Saturday, when games of fourteen heads will be played. The draw for the first round resulted as follows : Taplin plays Roe, Markman plays Kershaw, Edwards, Laws, and Hemingway byes.
