Rain fejl early, followed by -sunshine, with a gale blowing. This was a record fixture for the home province in every way. The ' tp.talisator for the day' handled £31,410 10s, compared with £21,811 10s for the corresponding oeca-' sion last year. ijhe total for the meeting was £60,695 10s, compare-d -with £44,876 for the previous season.
