AN ORDER DISREGARDED
CHIEF SECRETARY'S NARROW ESCAPE.

. LONDON, 9th December. During a debate in the House of Commons, Colonel Malone revealed the fact that Mr. J. T. Macpherson (Chief Secretary for Ireland) narrowly escaped assassination a few weeks ago while on a visit to Ireland. When entering Dublin Castle Sinn Feiners fired from cover at the back of Mr. Macpherson's motor-car. Fortunately he escaped.

LONDON, 10th December. It transpires that a sentry fired at the Chief Secretary's car, which did not stop when challenged. ■
