A PENSIONER'S PLEA

10 TBI EDITOR.

Sir,—3S Tow that Civil Servants are receiving increases of salaries, and workers in all occupations are having their wages increased, may I ask the Government to do something for the old ago pensioners. Wo received a bonus of five shillings some time ago, but you can imagine that, even with this help, we find it very difficult to obtain (he necessaries of life, much less those little luxuries which our age and.^ in many cases, infirmities make it essential we should have. Those of us who aro incapacitated so that we cannot supplement our pension with small earn ings are feeling the hardness of tho times, and if something extra could be given, where a doctor certifies that tho pensioner is unfitted for any work, it would help to make the evening of our lives a little more pleasant.—l am, etc., NEW ZEALAND BORN.
