EDUCATION BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING.

The Wellington Education Board held its monthly meeting yesterday. Mr. T. Forsyth, chairman, presided, and tho mom bers present wore Messrs. C. J. Harkness, G. T. London, T. Moss. J. J. ClaTk, R. A. Wright, and A. W. Hogs.

The statement of accounts showed receipts sinco last meeting of £16,172 4s 3d and payments of £28,963 12s lid, including -teachers' salaries £25;574 13s, house allowance £301 18s 6d, and Training College students' allowances £3087 Is 6d. Further payments amounting to £5609 2s'lid, including administration expenses £484 18s Bd, incidental expenses oi schools £1691 11a lOd, manual instruction £417 12s 7d, technical instruction £647 16s, buildings £1140 17s, sites £866 6s lid; total payments authorised, £34,572 15s lOd. Government gTants now due amounted to £32,083 13s'2d. Expenditure on maintenance of buildings for current year amounted to £8247 2s Bd. The accounts were passed. Correspondence was received from the Government approving building grants for one room at M____k_.ii, residences at Hamua and Eketahuna, and new "school at Deep Creek. Tho dates for the closing of the board s offices were fixed from 24th December to 9th January, 1920. Tho board resolved that the school committees' capitation allowance be increased by one-third as an addition to tho scale previously approved, out of the moneyprovided by Parliament.
