A ROYAL BANQUET

TO CELEBRATE THE PRINCE'S

RETURN

THE KING ON AMERICAN

CORDIALITY.

(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.) (REUTERS TELBGRAH.)

(Received December 9, 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, 4th December

The King gave a banquet to the Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace. His Majesty congratulated the Prince on forging a new link between Canada and the Mother Country. His Majesty expressed great appreciation at the cordial, even affectionate, welcome the Prince had received from the Government and people in Washington and New York. It had always been his earnest wish that the relations between the two great Englishspeaking nations should be of the closest and most friendly nature, and that they should work together for the good of civilisation and mankind. He trusted the Prince's visit would assist to that end.

The Prince of Wales, replying, said the tour had only intensified his desire to see more of the Empire. He looked forward keenly to ; visiting Australia and New Zealand, South Africa, and India early in the future.
