HOME SERVICE LEAGUE
A meeting was held at the Chamber of Commerce on Saturday evening to form a branch of the Home Service League, Those present unanimously adopted the constitution as framed by Auckland, in which place there is a strong party. A committee was formed to draft questions to candidates for Parliament. Mr. A. E. Roots, of Lower Hutt, was appointed secretary. There are over four thousand home service men in the Dominion, and it is confidently expected that the majority will join the league. It is the aim of the league to impress on the Government the injustice that is done to the men who, when the Dominion was in danger, voluntarily came forward and gave their services, in a number of cases to great disadvantage to themselves. It was pointed out that the home service man was attested and medically examined as a member of the N.Z.E.F., and as such should be entitled to all the privileges of that body. It was decided that every candidate for Parliament be written to, and the question be brought up at each candidate's meeting throughout the Dominion. A number of letters from different parts of the Dominion were read offering assistance to gain the object of the league.
