HIGHLAND DANCING TO-DAY

A VARIED PROGRAMME THIS EVENING.

The interest taken in the musical, elocutionary, and dancing competitions, particularly in the dancing sections, which were judged in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall, was evidenced again this morning and afternoon by the large attendance. Seats for this evening's session may be booked this afternoon at the Bristol. The programme will include the final of tha sword dance, for which nearly twenty entries were received, the sheauntrubhas, two ballets (" Youth " and "Egyptian"), and a character dance. The vocal sections are to include a soprano solo and trio, and the ladies' recitation of Alaine's "Bobolink," will also be decided. A story without words, " A Visit to the Dentist's," is to be told by one of the most successful competitors in the present contests. The programme is timed to commence at 7.45. TO-DAY'S RESULTS. To-day's results up teyths time of going to press are:— Piano Solo (Bristol Piano Co.'s scholarship), 15 and under 18 years.—Recalls: Miss Ivy Hoare (Kilbirnie), Mr. George Mackay. (Newtown), Mr. Leith A. Riddell (Wellington). The final will be decided on the evening of Tuesday, 18th November. Sacred Solo (tenor), own selection.— Recalls: Mr. Harry E. Lobb (Wellington), Mr. Montague W. Gillmore (Wellington), Mr. J. Percival Dodds (Dannevirke). Soprano solo, '"A Spirit Flower" (Campbell-Tiptori) or Waltz Song from "Tom Jones" (Ed. German). Recalls: Miss C. M. Ormiston (Whangarei), Miss Corrie Aslin (Dunedin), Mrs. Edith M. Patereon (Wellington). Highland Fling in costume (boy or girl under 12 years).
