(UNITED PRESS _ ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN - NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.)
LODON, 11th November1. Vigorous election campaigns are proceeding at Chestcr-le-Street (Durham), Croydon, Thanet, and Plymouth, but Lady Aster's spirited fight in a threecornered contest is attracting principal attention. Her ladyship's unconventional methods, and keen sense of humour, are producing lively scenes. She has already received the Prime- Minister's good wishes.
A National-Democratic candidate is challenging the Labour candidate at Chester-le-Street, but there are straight fights on party lines atCroydon and Thanet between the Conservative Coalitionists and the Independent Liberals.
[Lady Astor is contesting the seat made vacant by her husband's elevation to the Peerage.]
