'Labourite."—At the July conference of the Labour Party it was moved, on behalf of the l'almerston North Social Democratio Party:—"that no one b6 eligible as a Labour candidate for Parliament who has stood in opposition to an official' Labour candidate for a Parliamentary seat until six years have elapsed from the date of such opposition." The principle was approved, and later, oil behalf of a special committee, appointed to consider the matter, Mr. H. X Holland moved:—"Persons who have opposed official Labour candidates shall not be eligible for selection as Labour candidates until six years shall have expired from tho date of such opposition in case of Parliamentary elections, and four years in the case of local ctectiohs." Mr. D. \V. Coleman seconded. After some discussion, in which it was asserted by one 'speaker that the motion "abrogated the fundamental principles o( democracy," tho motion was agreed to.
