TROTTING CONTROL

CHRISTCHURCH, 12th Nov.
At a meeting of the board of the New Zealand Trotting Association a vote of sympathy and condolence was curried with tho family of the late Mr M. Hannan, president of the GreymouUi Trotting Club. Registration was granted 'to Clutha and jSllesmere County Trotting Clubs. 1 A'legal opinion was read with reference to dealing with the renomination of horses (D Rule 118 a), and- as to whether the association could' validly pass programmes of clubs which contained conditions at variance with it, but not covered by it. .The opinion wa.s To the effect that tlie association could not in face of the wording of the rule approve of programmes containing regulations such as that proposed by the Forbury Club, which would have the effect of, extending the scope of the rule beyond what its wording conveyed. ■ .
